Ann Springs Close Greenway is a great location I have shot at many times over the years. A sprawling area of trails, fields, barn buildings, and forests. So when Trevor and Alana asked for suggestions on the location for their engagement shoot, Ann Springs fit what they were looking for perfectly. I remember meeting Trevor when he was 13 years old when him and I were both on the same skateboard ministry team. He was one of the wildest people I had ever met and had an insatiable thirst for Coca Cola and skateboarding, to the point where both were wrecking his body. Soon afterwards I met Alana as her and Trevor began dating. The skateboard team has since dissolved, Trevor has slowed down on the soda intake before it dissolved him, and both Trevor and Alana have been together through it all. I am blessed to know both of them and see them grow together.
]]>For those of you who didn’t know, Rachel and I had a little boy at the beginning of February. He is a little over a month old now and we are happy as can be to have him here and in our arms. We were able to make it out to take some maternity photos before he arrived though. I always love to photograph my family and is one of the reasons I almost always have a camera with me. It is an absolute joy to be able to document our family and keep a record, if not make art, of our daily lives. We chose one of my favorite locations, Westminster Park, in Rock Hill, SC.
]]>The Chapmans are some of our closest friends. We met them six years ago when they hired us to shoot their wedding sight unseen and have since become a family that we cherish as confidants and have grown with. Richard, their son, is a great friend and playmate to our daughter Cassia, Erin is practically a sister to my wife Rachel (and one of the most talented makeup artists I have ever met: Erin Ashley) and Shurn is well, Shurn, one of the hardest working beard sporting individuals I have met who truly enjoys and loves his family. I am always honored to photograph people that I love as I aim to capture their spirit in the photos I take and having a close relationship with them allows me greater access. We chose to do their family photos in Westminster Park in Rock Hill as it is a picturesque wooded area that is serene and offers plenty of awesome locations to shoot.
]]>Winston and Trevor’s Duke Mansion engagement party was an absolute treat to behold. The Duke Mansion is by far one of my favorite venues in Charlotte, mostly due to the fact that it has an effortless old world charm that is seldom seen in the greater Charlotte area.
]]>Beautiful, simple bridal portraits are a fascination to me. I love working with several elements only in a photo.
Her face, her veil, the light. All coming together to make Emily a gorgeous bridal image.
To round out this week, we have Zack and Sarah’s full blog post, these two were married last weekend in the midst of some of the rainiest weeks I have ever experienced in Charlotte. Luckily, I fear no weather so the wedding turned out amazing (photos from that coming soon). Their engagement session was full of light, laughter, and love, which is really a reflection on their relationship.
]]>Zack and Sarah were married last weekend and while we were faced with lots of rain for the wedding day, we had a gorgeous summer’s evening to photograph their engagement session. Wing Haven Gardens, as always, was a magical backdrop for their engagement session.
]]>Zack and Sarah have an exuberance about them that is infectious. Their affection for one another is exciting to photograph and it made them all the easier to photograph. Photo captured at Wing Haven Gardens in Charlotte, NC.
]]>I love family portraits. Being a father myself, I have come to enjoy photographing them even more. A family is one of the most precious things we can have and to be able to capture the interaction between parents and children is amazing. I find this doubly so with a newborn baby. Jay and Jess have been waiting for their own little one for many years and to see their faces light up with joy and adoration for their little girl is something that moved me very deeply. She is one that they have been praying and yearning for for so long that, to have that part of their lives fulfilled, not only brings a profound gladness to them but to those who know them dearly. Jay and Jess, congratulations on your little girl and thank you for allowing me to be there while you celebrated your newfound blessing.
]]>I just love Jay and Jess’Â admiration of their little one. You can feel how appreciative and excited they are to have such a sweet little girl.
