Uptown laundromat Engagement Session of Ralph & Jamie in Charlotte, NC.
Engagements: Phillip & Dedria
Uptown Charlotte is one of my favorite places to shoot. sharp lines, clean light, and great natural reflectors. This combination turns it into a photographer’s playground. Basically it matched Phillip and Dedria perfectly. They both showed up in their slick city garb and I said to myself, “This is going to be fantastic!” As you can tell they brought it. I cannot wait to shoot with them again!

Wedding: Andrew & Grace
This was the first wedding we captured after our very own wedding and to make it even more special, this wedding was in New England. I love New England for obvious reasons, it’s where I grew up, and Nathan loves it because it’s just absolutely beautiful. We were honored to capture Grace and Andrew’s wedding day. We hope you enjoy!
Engagements: Tyler & Kirstie
We had the privilege of shooting with not one, but two pairs of high-school sweethearts this month. Tyler and Kirstie were so much fun! They didn’t hold anything back, even when Nathan asked them to roll up their jeans and wade in the chilly waters of Lake Norman. They chose Jetton Park in Cornelius for their session, complete with beautiful surrounding fields, beaches on Lake Norman, wooded trails and the October sun.
We are excited about their June wedding at Carrigan Farms in Mooresville, NC. Enjoy!
Engagements: Jonathan & Anika
Here is a cute uptown engagement session with a couple who know how to get down. Anika and Jonathan were referred to us by our September 3rd bride, Jenny. Not only did we have the joy of spending the evening with them, but witnessed (and captured) some of their killer dance moves!
We started at the new Mint Museum, made our way down Tryon and decided to chase the light from there. Anika and Jonathan are planning a destination wedding in the Spring of 2012.
Hair & Makeup was done by the amazing Kymm McLean of Who’s the Fairest. Enjoy!
Selecting Your Wedding Date
It’s all too fresh in my memory. Last fall, before we were engaged Nate and I talked about when we’d like to get married. We knew we had to plan ahead and block out date or else someone would book us for their own wedding. We both loved September, so that narrowed down the possibilities. Nate’s brother and sister-in-law got married on 03.04.05 and I thought it’d be rather amusing if we did the same play on the date and snagged 09.10.11.
After scouring the web for a venue that was thought would supply the best light for photography, I wound up with a big ZERO. No one was available on 09.10.11. Completely booked! It was back to the drawing board. I must admit, I was very sad – I had my heart set on September 10th, but I quickly realized that I would have to make a compromise somewhere in this wedding planning journey.
I began to search for venues that captured our eyes and would capture great photos. I not-so-secretly believe that Nate wanted an easy way to remember our wedding date and that is why he suggested we look for a venue in my home state of Vermont. Once we agreed to see what Vermont had to offer, I called my mom and she was beside herself in excitement. She knew exactly where we should be married and sure enough, 09.10.11 was ours to keep!
With all of this said, be open to dates for your wedding. Have one date you love and one back-up in case your favorite venue or photographer is not available!

Wedding: Steve & Jenny
This uptown wedding was held from beginning to the end at the Charlotte City Club. Jenny & Steve took an alternative approach in many areas of the day. Instead of having attendants, they chose to have their closest friends and family surrounding them as they prepared. Instead of a cake, they had an ice cream bar. Instead of a guest book, their were gold & silver sharpies for guests to sign an extra large bottle of wine.
When we first met Jenny, her hope was to have the best party, and that she did!
Engagements: Jeremy & Robin
These high school sweethearts’ e-Session put a first in our books with their adorable dog, Lucy. Robin & Jeremy chose a few different areas in Winston-Salem as their backdrop. We started in a beautiful park complete with decade old trees, a stone bridge and mini waterfalls. Not too far away was an enchanting garden with beautifully bloomed fall flowers, arbors and fountains. Jeremy brought along his Chevrolet Corvette to add some of his own flair to the shoot! We finished up in old town Salem. We never knew this place existed, but it made us feel like we were back in New England with all of the old brick houses and covered bridge.
Enjoy the gorgeous couple!
Bridals: Alexa
We only had to wait 6 weeks to post this bridal session and we couldn’t be more excited. Alexa is a natural in front of the camera and she looks amazing in just about every frame. Even the August heat didn’t stop Alexa from showing off her gorgeous dress from J Major’s Bridal Boutique.
We hope you enjoy<3
Wedding: Patch & Kelsey
uly 16th started out a bit gloomy, but there was really nothing that could keep this bride and groom down! I don’t think Kesley stopped smiling the entire day. It was an utter joy to be a part of Kesley and Patch’s wedding, engagement shoot and bridals. I knew they were an extraordinary couple and that their wedding would be extra special even at our initial consult. Their joy for life, one another and family, friends, strangers… was so evident.
Their ceremony was held at Belmont Abbey College and their reception was held at the Charlotte City Club. They surprised their guests with Irish dancers and Kelsey surprised us as she took the floor and displayed her talent in dance!
Congrats to Kelsey & Patch!
