The Chapmans are some of our closest friends. We met them six years ago when they hired us to shoot their wedding sight unseen and have since become a family that we cherish as confidants and have grown with. Richard, their son, is a great friend and playmate to our daughter Cassia, Erin is practically a sister to my wife Rachel (and one of the most talented makeup artists I have ever met: Erin Ashley) and Shurn is well, Shurn, one of the hardest working beard sporting individuals I have met who truly enjoys and loves his family. I am always honored to photograph people that I love as I aim to capture their spirit in the photos I take and having a close relationship with them allows me greater access. We chose to do their family photos in Westminster Park in Rock Hill as it is a picturesque wooded area that is serene and offers plenty of awesome locations to shoot.
Masanotti Family
This week’s story is about Jay and Jess, two marvelous people I have known for over a decade now. Their little one has been a long time coming and I am so pleased to share photos that we took a couple months ago after they just adopted her.
Petrino Family
Photographing photographers is always a tall order and though some may be a bit nervous to do so, I find it exhilarating as they know what will look good for the camera. The Petrinos of Charlotte Photography allowed me to photograph them and their newborn daughter Makenzie in their home. I feel that the photos of new parents interacting with their precious baby are so valuable to them as a family, more than just the posed (if not overposed) photos that we typically see on Pinterest of babies. I really enjoy capturing the genuine love and joy of new parents.
Engagements: Jim & Amy
Amy
I love this portrait of Amy. I had Jim over my shoulder complimenting her and singing her praises. They are one of my favorite couples to photograph as they just work together. Jim is incredibly thoughtful and Amy adores him in every way.
Wimmer Family
Please go and learn more about what you can do to help this family and hear their story.
Told in a far more eloquent way than I can. Sparrow has been through so much and needs support of those who can.
A child should never have to suffer this way when we are able to do something about it.

Family: Keeners
I had the chance to do a quick session with the Keeners of in the French Quarter of uptown Charlotte a couple months ago. Their little girl is growing so fast!
Family: Byrums
This beautiful session was captured at The Dairy Barn in Fort Mill, SC. The Byrums are not only incredibly talented photographers but fantastic people to be around. They have such a happy demeanor about them that it is just infectious. Aaron loved to play it up for the camera with his “serious poses” and Kristin just looked fabulous as usual.
Family: Sheltons
The Sheltons are a wonderful, vibrant family that have possibly the cutest little boy, Issac. They were kind enough to let me take a few photos of them in Uptown Charlotte.
Newborn: Ella
A couple weeks ago I had the honor of taking some of the first photographs of baby Ella. She is the sweet daughter of one of my couples Dedria and Phillip. I was able to use B&W to capture these intimate moments and precious child. I think it is so very important to photograph these moments so that they are treasured for life and B&W give an timeless and romantic look to these portraits. Thank you, Dedria and Phillip, for allowing me into your home to photography your newborn treasure!
